The Story County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is seeking volunteers with medical and non-medical skills who would like to volunteer within Story County. The MRC has scheduled an informational meeting for volunteers on Monday, June 16, 6:30 p.m., at Mary Greeley Medical, Bessie Myers Auditorium, 1111 Duff Ave., Ames IA 50010.

You may wonder, "What is the MRC and why haven’t I heard of them before?" The Story County MRC is an organization made of up of medical and non-medical volunteers who are trained to assist to responded with a variety of medically based needs when requested by Public Health or Story County Emergency Management. We need volunteers who are willing to support local Public Health, hospitals and EMS agencies in the event of a disaster or emergency.

The mission of the Story County MRC is to provide volunteers to support Story County Public Health and local EMS agencies in the event of a disaster or emergency with the current focus of assisting with emergency sheltering needs. The Story County MRC is community-based and functions to organize and utilize volunteers who wish to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to medically related emergencies and to promote healthy living throughout the year.
