The Collins-Maxwell Class of 2014 held commencement ceremonies this past Sunday.

Valedictorian of the class, Emmy Cuvelier, the daughter of Tammy and Jeff Cuvelier and the sister of Kaitlyn and Jordan Cuvelier and Heather Firrel, was introduced. Cuvelier has attended Collins-Maxwell for the past 13 years and been involved in Spirit Club, cheerleading, choir council for one year, student council for two years and National Honor society for three years. She has been a member of Champs, TAG and Collins-Maxwell Dance team for four years. She also has been a part of Center Stage Dance for 10 years. She served as president of the choir council and Champs her senior year and was also captain of the dance team.

Next year Cuvelier plans on attending Iowa State University, majoring in performing arts, and then later transferring to a performing arts conservatory. She hopes to perform professionally in Broadway-type productions, and someday open her own dance studio.

Nina Morris gave the "senior address." Morris is the daughter of Tony and Kay Morris and the older sister of Rease Morris. She has attended the Collins-Maxwell school district for the last 13 years, and participated in basketball for three years, National Honor Society for three years, FFA for four years, 4-H for nine years, band for four years, speech for two years, and served as vice president of the senior class over the past year. After high school, Morris plans to attend Cornell College to major in geology and English/creative writing.

Salutatorian for this year’s class was Mariah Norton, daughter of Duane Norton, Tasha Mullihan and Dave Pomeroy, and the younger sister to Brandon Norton. In high school Norton has been involved in dance, student council, National Honor Society, choir, Champs and FFA, all for four years. She was in basketball for three years, track, cross county, volleyball, soccer and Spirit Club for one year. She has also been involved in 4-H for nine years. After high school she plans to attend Iowa State to major in architecture.
