The Marshall County Conservation Board is currently featuring beautiful carvings from Ankeny woodcarver, Phil Kohler. His detailed, life-like carvings of birds, mammals and plants capture the essence of each subject. Kohler, who has been carving for over 10 years, loves nature and enjoys birdwatching. His African Kudu carving won Best of Show at the 2012 Iowa State Fair. The public is invited to view the beautiful artwork at the GrimesFarm & Conservation Center during May and June. The building hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. (Photo Submitted)
