The 2019 Summer Reading Program is here!
This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories” and it’s all about SPACE! We have programs for kids, teens and adults! The first day to sign up is Friday, May 31, at our KICK-OFF PARTY! Join us at the square — 5:30 p.m.: Food and Games; 6:30: Magician Jonathan May!
Kids and Teens: June 1-July 19. Please stop in the library for details on how to participate, what free events we have and how to earn prizes! We’ll have Movie Mondays, Story Time Tuesdays, Friendsday Wednesdays (K-fifth), and Performer Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. during our summer reading program.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Library are trying more frequent book sales. Find great deals on books and movies. Everything is $1 and teachers get 20 percent off. Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Prisoners of War in Iowa - Linda McCann
Wednesday, June 26, 1:30 p.m.
Iowa housed about 25,000 German, Italian and Japanese prisoners of war from 1943-1946. These were men captured and brought to the U.S. during World War II. Algona and Clarinda were the main camps in Iowa, and there were about 17 branch camps where the POWs did summer and fall work. Linda was able to speak with people who worked with or had gotten to know the prisoners, and shares their memories.
