The February Gathering of Artists will be held at the Octagon Gallery Shop, 413 Douglas Ave., Ames, on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 6-8 p.m. The meeting will center upon the Octagon Gallery Shop, as well as additional exciting happenings at the Octagon Center for the Arts.
Artists and art enthusiasts of all types are invited to meet other artists, get feedback, get inspired and have fun. The events are free and open to all. Refreshments will be provided.
The Octagon Gallery Shop is a consignment retailer for original works of over 150 area artists. With such a wide range of items, there is something for every budget and every taste. When looking for a special gift, the Gallery Shop is the perfect spot. The staff is ready to answer questions, assist with selection, or place special orders for one-of-a-kind items. The Gallery Shop offers gift certificates, layaway, purchasing on approval, and shipping services.
After learning about the shop, Gathering participants will be able to visit the exhibit Outside-In, featuring artists Pacia Sallomi and Alexandra Ackerman in the adjacent Community Gallery as well as Octagonal: The All Media Exhibit in the Sweeney and Main Galleries.
Finally, attendees will learn more about the Business of Art Conference, a professional development opportunity for visual artists, co-hosted by the Ames Community Arts Council and The Octagon on March 1-2.
