Huxley Parks and Recreation is offering “Dads” and “Daughters” a hint of the tropics on Saturday, Feb. 2. If the winter snow and cold has gotten you down, dads and daughters, get your dates lined up and show up at the Hawaiian Luau for a fun-filled night of music, dancing, food and other activities.
The annual Daddy-Daughter Dance will take place in the City of Huxley Safe Room, from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for a $5 per person fee if purchased by Jan. 27, or $7 per person up until Feb. 2.
Heather Denger, Parks and Recreation director for the city of Huxley, commented that all ages are welcome to attend. She added that if a daughter needs a date, other family members are welcome to step in and accompany her to the dance.
Music and song requests for the event are being provided by Tyler Mortvedt.
Although there is no dress code for the party, Denger said that most girls wear dresses and the dads dress up, too.
“This is a party time for both little girls and their dads,” said Denger. “If dads want to purchase flowers for their dates, they can do so through the Chicken Shed here in Huxley.”
Denger added that there will be door prizes and that light refreshments will be served.
“We will also have a photographer at the dance to take photos of the dads and daughters, at no cost,” Denger added.
Keep in mind that this is a Hawaiian theme-based event. Come enjoy the warmth and tropical tones of the islands for one night during winter in Iowa.
