Dad’s Belgium Waffles

Dad’s Belgium Waffles returns to the Arboretum to serve mammoth-sized waffles that will fill your plate and satisfy your appetite. See wonderfully Iowa grown Christmas trees decorated by local community groups. Santa will be flying in from the North Pole to make a guest appearance. A great event for the whole family.

Art Mart

Enjoy handmade gifts from local artisans. An informal consortium of local crafters offers you their best this season. Some vendors are choosing to dedicate a percentage of sales to charity.

Come and celebrate the best of Iowa-grown Christmas trees at the Iowa Arboretum. Each tree is decorated by local clubs, schools, and organizations. This event is free and open to the public.

• Evergreen Wreath Workshop


Sunday, Dec. 2, 1-3 p.m.


Join us for this festive class! Participants will use fresh-cut greens to create an evergreen wreath for the holiday season that you can hang up that day. With proper care, your wreath will last into the new year. Be sure to pre-register to secure your place in class! This is an adult class. Children can participate with adult help.


Please bring hand clippers and light work gloves.

• Evergreen Centerpiece Workshop


Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-noon


In this make-and-take class, participants will use fresh-cut greens to create a tabletop arrangement that will last well into the new year. Sandy Grossman will teach you how to produce the perfect centerpiece for your table. You will learn how to distinguish between kinds of evergreens. You will also learn how to use floral wet foam, wraps, picks and wire. Review basic elements of design and experiment with embellishments such as ribbons and ornaments. Preregistration is highly encouraged to ensure the availability of materials. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Children who want to participate must pay a separate workshop fee.
