About 30 people came to Alleman City Hall this past Saturday, April 28, to listen to Randy Cass from the ISU Extension office talk about bees and the native-to-Iowa bees. He answered the question, “Why do we need bees in our gardens?” and talked about bee houses we can make ourselves.

At 10 a.m. that morning, led by Mayor Carmella Jones, the community had its first-ever Arbor Day Mayor’s Walk. Participants walked about a mile through the original parts of Alleman on the beautiful April morning.

Alleman City Hall had Trees For Kids, donated by the Iowa DNR, reusable shopping bags from Metro Waste Authority and Arbor Day T-shirts for everyone.
