The Story County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of recent burglaries to two Slater businesses and one residence.
According to Sheriff’s Office Lt. Leanna Ellis, the most recent incident occurred Wednesday when the front door to the Town & Country Market, at 308 Main St., was shattered and the register was taken. Ellis said that a similar incident occurred initially on Dec. 14, and that this time an empty register door was found in Ames, which alerted authorities to the burglary.
Just down the street, Ellis said that the Night Hawk Bar & Grill experienced its own burglary March 14, when an alarm was triggered overnight. Ellis said that the surveillance showed that the suspects were unable to get to the safe or cash register, and fled before authorities arrived.
Ellis said that in addition to the two business burglaries, a lock box was stolen from a residence in the Hammond Estates Mobile Home Park March 20.
All of the burglaries occurred overnight, and Ellis said they all have similar patterns.
According to Ellis, this makes 12 burglaries around the county in the past three months.
The Story County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
