Click Your Knitting Needles for Babies (Period of PURPLE Crying Caps): Thursdays, 6-8 p.m. (ends Oct. 17)

Sit-N-Stitch will make, collect and donate caps to the Blank Children’s Hospital. Knit or crochet caps using any newborn baby cap pattern. Caps can be made using any shade of soft, baby-friendly purple yarn. These caps help educate parents about the Period of PURPLE Crying, a normal, but frustrating period of increased crying all infants experience in the first few weeks and months after birth. Crafty Café: Halloween Edition: Oct. 23, 3:45-4:30 p.m. Slide in after school and make a Halloweeny craft!

Movie Night: Thursday, Oct. 31, 6:30 p.m., for "SUPER Buddies" - an ordinary day at Fernfield Farms turns extraordinary when Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg, Buddha and Rosebud discover mysterious rings that grant them each a unique super power (81 minutes, rated G). Seed Saving Workshop

On Monday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m., join Sondra Krueger Feldstein of SalAmander Farms and find out how easy it is to save your own vegetable and flower seeds. Sondra has been a listed member of Seed Savers Exchange since 2000, with over 100 heirloom varieties listed in 2013. Save your vegetable and flower seeds this fall and join us in 2014 for a SEED EXCHANGE (date to be announced).

Friends of the Library Meeting, Oct. 16, 7 p.m.

Paranormal Investigation: The Haunted Season is Upon Us

Join Vicki Stinson, founder of the Supernatural Research Society of Iowa and her SRSOI team on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., as they reveal paranormal evidence collected over the years, tap into Iowa’s haunted history and demonstrate the tools and techniques that help them in the field. After the presentation, Society Team Members will be available for questions.

Author Visit with LaVina Vanorny-Barcus

On Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m., join us for a fun evening with LaVina Vanorny-Barcus as she explains her writing and publishing process. LaVina has written many genres of books, which include: children’s, science fiction, romance and a cookbook of Czech recipes used by her grandmother. LaVina will also be available after the program to answer questions.
