McKenzie Flick was recently presented a Northminster Presbyterian Church (Ames) scholarship by scholarship committee member Wendy Wintersteen. McKenzie is the granddaughter of Jan and Charlie Flick of Huxley. Eight scholarships were presented to youth who were either in undergraduate or graduate studies.

Local Graceland University students have been elected by their peers to the 2018-19 House Council. Graceland offers the integration of student government and residence life, allowing student leaders to impact the entire campus community. Students elected as house council leaders become the members and decision-makers in the student government organizations. Local students elected to Graceland University 2018-19 House Council include: William Bayse of Polk City was elected as Chaplain for Powell and Cheyanne Chesley of Polk City was elected as Senator for Khiyah.

Upper Iowa University is pleased to announce that Joshua Norris of Huxley, forensic science, and Stephanie Varner of Polk City, health services administration, are May 2018 graduates.
