Jacob Barr, a 2018 graduate of North Polk High School, recently returned from Europe, where he traveled with the Iowa Ambassadors of Music. This is a group of superior musicians from Iowa, who are selected to participate by their schools. Barr spent four days in Grinnell with the other chosen students, perfecting their program, “We’ve Got Rhythm!” to present to the people of Europe. They presented nine concerts, both instrumental and vocal. Barr plays trombone and also sings.

The group left July 2 and were in Europe 18 days. While there, they visited England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein, and Germany. They saw many famous sights in these countries, while enjoying live productions in London.

Barr will attend Drake University this fall and major in music education. He is the son of David and Bernita Barr and the grandson of Gary and Judy Borts, all of Alleman.

The following students are 2018 graduates of Marshalltown Community College: Robert Barnhill III, AAS, gunsmith technology, Collins and Erin Vincent, Diploma, dental assisting, graduated with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher, Maxwell.
