The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter football team had four players make the all-Class 2A District 6 first team in 2013.

Juniors Patrick Girard and Bryce Kemp made the first-team offense and seniors Zach Samson and Austin Moorman landed on the first-team defense.

Girard was a unanimous pick on the offensive line. He anchored an offensive front that paved the way for the Raiders to average 34.2 points and 379.2 yards per game in district play.

Joining Girard on the first-team offensive line were Albia sophomore Nick Yarkosky, Bondurant-Farrar seniors Andrew Meek and Tanner Perry, Davis County senior Wayne Doerscher and Prairie City-Monroe senior Jackson Winegar. Meek and Doerscher were also unanimous selections.

Kemp was the top big-play guy for CMB on offense. He caught 19 passes for 367 yards and six touchdowns in district games.

Albia’s Zach Hugen and Bondurant-Farrar’s Sam Duffy were the other first-team receivers. Hugen was a unanimous choice.

Albia quarterback Brett Leshen and running back Griffin Osing, Bondurant-Farrar running back Grant Peterson and utility pick Drake Fuller, Davis County running back Spencer Bassett, I-35 running back Alex Middleton, Clarke utility pick Dalton Sweeney and Bondurant-Farrar punter Cole Schlenker made up the rest of the first-team offense. Leshen was named the Offensive MVP of the district.

Samson and Moorman were both unanimously named to the defensive first team. Samson was the Co-Defensive MVP along with Bondurant-Farrar linebacker Cole Bailey.

Samson tallied 20 tackles and two sacks in district play as a defensive lineman. Moorman recorded 19 tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions and a fumble recovery as a defensive back.

Albia’s Dalton Folkerts, Davis County’s Isaac Hougland, PCM’s Brandon Charls and Schlenker made up the rest of the first-team defensive line. Albia’s Blake Bayer, Bondurant-Farrar’s Dillon Stafford and PCM’s Zach Uhlenhopp all joined Moorman as unanimous choices in the defensive backfield.

Bailey, Clarke’s Gordon Witt, PCM’s Blake McWilliams, I-35’s Briar Vogel and Albia’s Bryce Leshen made up the first-team linebackers. Bailey was the lone unanimous choice in the group.

CMB also produced three second-team all-district selections.

Junior Corey Morris made the second-team offensive line, sophomore Brady Stover was chosen at receiver and Clayton Weltha was tabbed at linebacker. Stover had 16 catches for 166 yards and one touchdown and Weltha came up with a team-best 55 tackles in district play.

Seniors Dawson Dahlke and Logan Cory and juniors Joey Nissen and Nick Littell were named all-district honorable mention for CMB.

Dahlke helped CMB out on the offensive line and Cory racked up 47 tackles and two interceptions on defense. Nissen made 23 of 26 extra points and 2 of 3 field goals as the Raider kicker and Littell picked up 40 tackles and two stops behind the line on defense.
