HUXLEY – The Ballard volleyball team concluded Raccoon River Conference play with a loss to Carroll Oct. 17 on senior night in Huxley.

The Bombers fell in four sets to drop to 5-18 on the season and finish 2-5 in the RRC.

Ballard suffered a 25-20 loss in the opening set. Set two saw things fall apart for the Bombers as they were handed a 25-8 setback.

The third set saw Ballard regroup with a strong performance. The Bombers won a fierce 26-24 battle to avoid the sweep.

But in the fourth set, Carroll regained control. Ballard was dealt a 25-17 loss to end the match.

The Bombers finished with 23 kills and nine errors in 69 attacks. They also totaled nine solo blocks, but struggled with serving, finishing with just one ace as a team.

Alanna Dubberke had six kills and four solo blocks; Brooke Mallon delivered five kills, five digs and one solo block and Meredith Ossian ended up with five kills, two solo blocks and a 12 of 12 serving effort for the Bombers. Abby Carlin produced 11 assists, four digs, two kills and one ace; Hannah Larsen added two kills and one solo block and Charcey Petersen came through with 12 assists, four digs and one kill.

PERRY – Ballard went 1-2 at the Perry Invitational Oct. 15 in Perry as the Bombers knocked off Saydel and came up short against Roland-Story and Fort Dodge.

Ballard easily handled Saydel to earn its fifth victory of the season. The Bombers swept the Eagles by scores of 21-7 and 21-13.

A .375 kill-efficiency rate helped Ballard take care of Saydel. The Bombers had 16 kills and only four errors in 32 attacks.

Brooke Mallon finished with four kills, and Meredith Ossian and Alanna Dubberke each had three for Ballard. Abby Carlin, Ashley Davis, Shelby Drummond, Sheridan Gealow, Hannah Larsen and Charcey Petersen chipped in one apiece.

Dubberke led Ballard in solo blocks with three and Mallon had two. Alex Petersen led the team in digs with three and Emily Jurgensen tacked on two, Abby Carlin dished out seven assists and Charcey contributed five; Carlin and Larsen each posted one ace.

Ballard suffered a tough three-set loss to Fort Dodge. The Bombers scored a tough 26-24 victory in the opening set, but were unable to keep up the momentum, losing the second, 21-14, and then suffering a 15-9 loss in the rally game.

Ballard had 22 kills and eight attack errors against Fort Dodge. The Bombers also finished with seven solo blocks and they went 43 of 48 serving with three aces.

Dubberke recorded eight kills, four solo blocks and one ace. Larsen and Mallon totaled four kills apiece, with Larsen adding two digs and one assist and Mallon finishing with one dig.

Meredith Ossian chipped in three kills, two solo blocks and an ace. Alex Petersen had five digs and Charcey finished with four.

Charcey also handed out seven assists and Carlin dished out eight versus Fort Dodge.

Roland-Story swept Ballard by scores of 21-13 and 21-5. The Bombers only had eight kills against six errors in 27 attacks.

Dubberke put up three kills and two solo blocks and Ossian had two kills and solo blocks apiece against the Norse. Carlin totaled five assists, Charcey had four and Alex came up with four digs.
