CARLISLE – The Ballard volleyball team split a triangular with Clarke and Carlisle Oct. 8 in Carlisle.
The Bombers defeated Clarke in a non-conference match and fell to Carlisle in a Raccoon River Conference confrontation. That moved their overall record to 4-15 and conference mark to 2-4 on the season.
Against Clarke, the Bombers pulled off a pair of close victories. Ballard prevailed by two points each time, 27-25 and 25-23.
Ballard finished with 21 kills against six errors in 56 attacks against Clarke. The Bombers had three solo blocks and they went 40 of 44 serving with two aces.
Brooke Mallon had five kills, three blocks and two digs; Hannah Larsen contributed four kills and two digs; Alanna Dubberke had four kills, one solo block and two digs and Meredith Ossian chipped in four kills and one solo block for the Bombers.
Charcey Petersen had 11 assists and Abby Carlin finished with 10 assists and two blocks. Alex Petersen led the Bombers in digs with five and Emily Jurgensen and Ashley Davis totaled four apiece.
Ballard was handed losses by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17 against Carlisle. The Bombers had 36 kills and 12 attack errors and they picked up eight solo blocks and five aces in the victory.
Mallon and Dubberke had 11 kills apiece in the loss. Mallon also finished with seven digs, one solo block and one ace and Dubberke added two solo blocks.
Ossian finished with five kills and two solo blocks and aces apiece. Carlin had 10 assists, two kills and one ace; Charcey dished out 26 assists; Jurgensen finished with 10 digs; Alex added nine and Larsen delivered three solo blocks against the Wildcats.
