JEFFERSON - The North Polk volleyball team bombarded Greene County with ace serves in a Heart of Iowa Conference sweep over the Rams Sept. 18 at Jefferson.


North Polk cruised to a 25-14 win in the first set and won a 25-21 battle in the second.


The third set saw the Comets turn the dial up a notch, coasting to a 25-11 victory to take the match.


North Polk only connected on 71.6 percent of its serves during the match. But the Comets recorded 18 aces, improving to 2-0 in the HOIC and 13-12 overall.


North Polk also had 23 kills against 16 attack errors on offense.


Defensively, the Comets tallied 47 digs and eight blocks.


Nora Aschoff and Sydney Anderson had six kills apiece and Bella Rademacher chipped in four for North Polk in the win. Aschoff also had eight digs, four aces and one block, Anderson two digs and Rademacher one block.


Hailey Becker contributed three kills and two blocks from the right side and Jaedon Murphy three blocks, three digs and two kills from middle hitter.


Jalen Heintz led North Polk’s serving barrage with seven aces and she also had three digs and one assist. Katie Scott delivered five aces, led the team in digs with 14 and tacked on three assists.


Hailey Steffen recorded eight assists, five digs and one ace and Emily Byrd six assists, eight digs and one ace at setter. Liz Turk chipped in two kills and digs apiece and Alex Drent finished with two digs.
