ALLEMAN - The North Polk volleyball team easily disposed of Prairie City-Monroe Sept. 13 at Alleman, sweeping the Mustangs in three sets.


North Polk prevailed by lopsided 25-12 and 25-6 decisions in the first two sets, then closed things out with a 25-17 triumph.


The victory put North Polk at 10-10 on the season and got the Comets off to a 1-0 start in the Heart of Iowa Conference.


North Polk had 36 kills against just 12 attack errors.


The Comets struggled with their serve accuracy (69 of 94), but had 15 aces.


Nora Aschoff had 10 kills, 13 digs and five aces. Liz Turk added eight kills, three digs and two blocks and Jaedon Murphy seven kills and three blocks.


Hailey Steffen had 17 assists, two kills and two blocks and Emily Byrd 10 assists, five aces and three digs. Katie Scott tallied 11 digs and one ace, Chloe Dougherty 11 digs and Jalen Heintz five digs and one kill in the back row.


Sydney Anderson chipped in four kills, three digs, two blocks and one ace; Elli Mandernach three kills and two assists; Sadie Long two blocks, two digs and one kill and Alex Drent four assists, two digs and one ace.
