DES MOINES — North Polk was doomed by a sluggish start in a 4-0 loss at Saydel June 4.

Comet pitcher Hannah Pals settled things down and kept Saydel off the board the rest of the way. But she didn’t get any offensive support as North Polk suffered its second Heart of Iowa Conference loss.

Swygman gave up four runs — three earned - on two hits in ⅓ of an inning to take the loss. Pals went the rest of the way, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits with no walks.

Pals, Ellie Owen, Trisha Sporra and Sydney Albaugh each singled once for the only Comet hits. Sporra also stole a base, Pals and Albaugh both walked once and Paige Sandberg also drew a free pass for North Polk.
