GRANGER - The Ballard baseball team split games against Woodward-Granger and Johnston at the Woodward-Granger Invitational Saturday in Granger.

The Bombers defeated Woodward-Granger by a 4-2 score and suffered a 7-1 setback at the hands of Johnston. The split put Ballard at 2-6 on the season.

The game was knotted at 1-1 going into the top of the seventh. Ballard scored three times in the top of the inning to easily withstand a Woodward-Granger run in the bottom of the inning to pull off the win

Kade Reinertson was 3-for-4 with a run, Cody Wolfe went 1-for-4 with two RBIs; Brooks Fleischmann singled, walked and scored and Sam Petersen and Tanner Brock each singled and scored for the Bombers on offense. Will Stalder singled and walked, Reece Huen and Clay Estrem each singled once and Jack Luster drove in a run for the Bombers.

Ballard finished with 10 hits to just four for Woodward-Granger. That helped the Bombers overcome three errors on defense.

Ballard’s only run versus Johnston came in the bottom of the seventh. The Bombers only had four hits in the loss.
