New London High School had the top two individual scores and three of the top six and captured the team title in the Class 1A first round regional girls golf tournament at Deerwood Golf Course Monday.
New London, runner-up Winfield-Mount Union and third place finisher English Valleys all advance to the regional final May 21 at Sigourney Golf and Country Club.
New London won with 358 strokes. Winfield-Mount Union carded 410 and English Valleys came in at 418. Columbus was fourth and Danville finished sixth.
New London's Casey Noble was medalist with a 79 and teammate Addie Pry was runner-up medalist at 83. Columbus's Aubrey Duncan finished third individually at 88, Winfield-Mount Union's Lexee Hartsock finished fifth at 93 and New London's Jaden Streeter carded a 95 for sixth.
Holy Trinity's Ali Robu was seventh with a 96 and Isabella Smith led Danville with a 101, good for 10th place.
The top eight individuals also advance to the regional finals.

JAHN, HOWELL ADVANCE IN 2A: Ruthie Jahn of Mediapolis and Louisa-Muscatine's Olivia Howell finished in the top five individuals at the Class 2A regional girls first round at Heritage Oaks and advance to next week's regional final at Oskaloosa Public Golf Course.
Jahn finished second with an 85 and Howell carded a 95 for fifth place. Mid-Prairie's Paige Slaubaugh was medalist with an 82.
The top two teams and top eight individuals advance to the May 21 final.
Williamsburg won the team title with 381 strokes and Mid-Prairie was second at 385. Iowa City Regina took third, Louisa-Muscatine was fourth, Mediapolis fifth, Van Buren sixth, Central Lee seventh and Wapello eighth.

DEMONS DOMINATE SEC: It takes just four individual scores to make up a team score in high school golf and Washington High School showed its depth in the girls Southeast Conference tournament at Mount Pleasant Country Club.
The top five individual scores in the tournament were carded by Washington players and the Demons rolled to the team victory with just 315 strokes. Three of those top five are freshmen.
Washington senior Sarah Nacos was medalist with an even-par 72. Teammates following her were freshman Kiki Guo with a 76, freshman Anna Nacos (80), freshman Josie Tanner (87) and senior Megan Strabala (89).
Mount Pleasant's Annie Liechty carded a 95 to finish sixth individually and she led the Panthers to a second place team finish at 410 strokes. Keokuk was third at 495 and Fairfield was fourth at 508. Fort Madison didn't field a team.

BURLINGTON 5, MUSCATINE 1: Burlington High School ousted the Muskies in the first round of the team regional tournament at Muscatine.
Burlington's Grace Breuer, Rachel Mason, Mallory Pohren, Hallie Todd and Makaylin Powers each won singles matches to clinch the team victory.
The Grayhounds advance to the second round at 9 a.m. Saturday in Clinton, facing Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

HOLY TRINITY 10, WAPELLO 0: Claire Pothitakis scored four goals and Taylor Boeding added two more to lead the Crusaders to a shutout victory at West Point.
Ellie Rashid, Elyse Pothitakis, Maya Rashid and Kayleigh Biegler each scored a goal for Holy Trinity. Claire Pothtitakis and Ellie Rashid each had an assist. Samantha Pothitakis picked up the shutout with two saves.
Wapello's Sam Palma and Sadie Burk each had 10 saves. Alexis Knight had one.
DANVILLE-NEW LONDON 2, FORT MADISON 0: Tristan Miller scored both goals, one in each half, to lead the Bears to a non-conference victory at Fort Madison.
Avery Heston and Cam Edle each had an assist for Danville-New London. Grifen Molle earned the shutout with 11 saves.
Danville-New London (4-10) plays at Mount Pleasant Thursday. Fort Madison (3-11) plays at Mediapolis today.
SOUTHEASTERN 7, WEST CENTRAL 0: Shad Flesner limited West Central to one hit and Southeastern ousted the Heat in the Class 1A regional quarterfinal game at Stronghurst, Illinois.
Flesner walked one and struck out 16 in seven innings. He aided his own cause by going 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs. The Suns Jaise Heaton went 3-for-3 and Brock Winters went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
