WOODWARD - The Ballard girls’ golf team just missed out on a the team championship at the Woodward-Granger Invitational April 26 at the Woodward Golf and Country Club.


Ballard shot a 425 over 18 holes to tie Panorama for the top score out of six scored teams. But Panorama turned in the better score from its No. 5 golfer to win the tiebreaker and take first.


Alle Echer led Ballard with a 95 to place third overall. Echer shot a 52 and a 43.


Ana Vier stepped up as the second golfer for Ballard. Vier delivered rounds of 53 and 54 to finish with a 107.


Lauren Smith shot a 109 with a 48 out and 59 in. Ashley Drew was the final scored golfer for Ballard with a 116 as she finished with rounds of 59 and 57.


Brandelle McGinn had a 60 and a 65 to card a 125 and Cassidy Thompson shot a 129 with a 67 and 62 as the other varsity competitors for Ballard.


Ogden’s Miranda Wheelock was medalist with an 89. Perry’s Alyssa Kruger took runner-up with a 91.

NEVADA - Ballard turned in a strong runner-up showing at the Nevada quadrangular meet April 24 at the Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada.


Ballard shot a 212 over nine holes to edge Greene County by one stroke for second out of four scored teams. Humboldt won with a 196 and Nevada shot a 225.


Lauren Smith led Ballard with a 45 to win medalist honors. Humboldt’s Frances Carlson was medalist runner-up with 46.


Alle Echer shot a 52, Ana Vier a 56 and Cassidy Thompson a 59 as the other scored Bomber golfers. Brandelle McGinn carded a 63 and Meggan Carson a 65 to round out the varsity scoring for Ballard.
