GILBERT - Behind a brilliant individual effort from Carter Fricke, the Collins-Maxwell boys’ track team had a strong fourth-place showing in Class B at the Bengal Relays Monday in Gilbert.


Fricke won the three individual sprinting events and also anchored Collins-Maxwell to a silver medal in the sprint medley relay. Brett Livesay added another silver medal in the high jump and Drake Ross won a bronze in the 100-meter dash for the Spartans as they scored 85 points to beat Colo-NESCO by 25 points for fourth out of eight teams in Class B.


Fricke won the 100 in 11.45 seconds and Ross clocked in at :11.77. Van Meter’s Zach Drummond came in second at :11.70.


In the 200, Fricke ran a :23.46 to beat Drummond’s :23.88 for first. Ross placed fourth in the event with a time of :24.20.


Fricke completed the open 400 in :54.33 to just beat out the :54.68 run by Ogden’s Blake Gregory for the win.


Caleb Fullerton and A.J. Smith teamed with Fricke and Ross to run a 1:41.82 in the sprint medley. Van Meter won in 1:39.26.


Livesay peaked with a jump of five feet, 10 inches in the high jump. Colo-NESCO’s Matthew Hill won after jumping 6-0.


Fullerton, Mitchell Bienfang, Kadin Bennett and Smith placed fourth in the 4 X 200 with a 1:42.81 showing.


Fullerton, Smith, Livesay and Bienfang took fifth in the distance medley after running a 4:06.31. Max Van Maanen, Noah Rhoades, Mason Markley and Frank Sposeto IV came in fifth in the 4 X 800 after clocking in at 9:34.94.


Livesay also placed fifth individually in the 110 highs with a time of :17.11 and sixth in the 400 hurdles after crossing the finish line in 1:04.47. The Spartan 4 X 400 team of Van Maanen, Rhoades, Addison Swaab and Bienfang produced a sixth-place time of 4:01.75.


Van Meter and Madrid dominated the Class B team competition. Van Meter won with 168 points and Madrid scored 161.

CONRAD - The Collins-Maxwell boys’ track team delivered six top-eight performances at the Comet Relays Friday at Conrad.


Brett Livesay won a silver medal in the high jump and took sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, and Jacob Pierick finished eighth in the 3,200. The Spartans also came in sixth in the 4 X 800 relay, seventh in the 4 X 200 and eighth in the 4 X 400.


Livesay’s best jump in the high jump was five feet, 10 inches. Vinton-Shellsburg’s C.J. Rickels won the event by clearing 5-10 in fewer attempts than Livesay and third-place finisher Eli Anderson of East Marshall.


In the 400 hurdles, Livesay clocked in at one minute, 4.64 seconds. Pierick completed the 3,200 in 11:48.31.


Frank Sposeto IV, Noah Rhoades, Mitchell Bienfang and A.J. Smith ran the 4 X 800 in 9:32.63. Caleb Fullerton, Kadin Bennett, Bienfang and Smith completed the 4 X 200 in 1:42.00 and Livesay, Sposeto IV, Rhoades and Max Van Maanen clocked in at 4:04.17 in the 4 X 400.


Collins-Maxwell scored 18 points to finish ninth out of 10 teams. Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with 131 points and East Marshall scored 123.5 to take second.
