Good defense and timely offense was the name of the game Thursday night for the A-D-M boys soccer team in a 1-0 victory over Knoxville.
Despite the low scoring affair there was a lot of action which primarily came from A-D-M’s side of things with time of possession well in favor of the Tigers.
The lone goal for the evening came 25 minutes into the first half when Davis Coppinger used solid defense to strip the ball away from the opposing defender to find Justin Schumacher who in turn would find Eli Schwarzkopf who then proceeded to slip in his third goal of 2018.
Despite some stingy goal keeping by Knoxville’s Wyatt Darnell, A-D-M’s one goal combined with shutdown defense from Tiger goal keeper T.J Klocke handed Knoxville their first loss of the season. Meanwhile the Tigers improve their overall record to 2-0.
Next up for the Tigers will be a home match up against non conference foe and Class 1A’s third ranked Gilbert. Last time out A-D-M defeated their Tiger counterparts and will look to do so once again on Tuesday, April 17th, beginning at 7 pm.
