It took overtime to decide the victor but unfortunately the bonus period was not enough to claim a win for A-D-M/Van Meter girls soccer who fell to Norwalk in penalty kicks Thursday night.

The fourth ranked Tigers were on the road facing Class 2A’s fifth ranked Norwalk in a battle of unbeaten teams.

It was a 1-1 contest that drove the game into overtime and for A-D-M/Van Meter, their lone regulation goal game off the foot of rising freshmen star Ashlyn Watt who chipped in the goal just outside the 18 yard mark midway through the first half.

In the overtime frame senior Watt chipped in one of four penalty kicks for the Tigers along with senior Izzy LaFollette, junior Emma Davis, and sophomore Delaney Barton. Despite the flurry of activity from A-D-M/Van Meter, Norwalk ended up prevailing by winning in penalty kicks 5-4.

With the win Norwalk keeps their record unblemished at 3-0 while handing the Tigers their first loss of the season and a record of 1-1.

The Tiger girls will be back in action and looking for redemption on Tuesday, April 17th in a non conference battle at Gilbert. Game start is scheduled for 7 pm.
