AUDUBON - The Collins-Maxwell wrestling team had two grapplers win a silver medal and another place fourth at the Audubon Invitational Saturday in Audubon.


Jacob Pierick and Caleb Fullerton came in second at 106 and 138 pounds respectively for Collins-Maxwell. Cody Galbraith added a fourth-place finish at 182 as the Spartans scored 53.5 points to place sixth out of nine scored teams.


Pierick went 1-1 as his season record moved to 17-10. He opened with a bye, won by sudden victory over Missouri Valley’s Drew West, 4-2, then lost in the finals by fall to Logan-Magnolia’s Kaleb King.


Fullerton compiled a 2-1 record, going to 22-7 on the season.


Fullerton opened with a fall over Missouri Valley’s Jacob Bowman in three minutes, 23 seconds and he followed that up with a victory by technical fall, 19-4, over East Sac County’s Dawson Mack. In the finals, Fullerton lost by major decision, 10-1, to Missouri Valley’s Connor Lange — the No. 4 wrestler in Class 1A at 138 according to The Predicament.


Galbraith finished 1-2 on the day. He received a bye, lost by fall to Missouri Valley’s Nick Haynes, pinned Logan-Magnolia JV’s Jarrett Armstrong in 4:47, then lost by fall to Logan-Magnolia’s Josh Stueve.


Zach Martinez also competed at the varsity level for Collins-Maxwell at the tournament, going 0-3 at 220.


Carter Davis was the lone representative for the Collins-Maxwell JV. He competed at 106 and finished 0-2.
