ALLEMAN - North Polk had four wrestlers place in the top three individually and Collins-Maxwell had one individual come in second at the North Polk Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday in Alleman.

North Polk had one wrestler come in second and three take third, scoring 112 points to place sixth out of 10 teams. Carlisle won with 187 points, Waukee took second with 175, Boone finished third with 132, BCLUW scored 128 to come in fourth and Forest City was fifth with a score of 121.

Ryan Davidson was runner-up at 113 pounds for North Polk.

Davidson knocked off Forest City’s Austin Kirschbaum by a 5-2 decision and pinned Clarke’s Zethan May in three minutes, 50 seconds to reach the finals. In the finals, Davidson lost by fall to Thurman Christensen of Waukee.

Isaac Larson, Broc Davidson and Sully Hartsook took third at 106, 126 and 152 respectively for North Polk.

Larson pinned BCLUW’s Colton Keller in one minute, 13 seconds then lost by fall to Waukee’s Connor Kelly. In the consolation semifinals, Larson pinned Clarke’s Max Maiden in 2:47 and he went on to down Collins-Maxwell’s Jacob Pierick in the third-place match by fall in 51 seconds.

Broc Davidson pinned Clarke’s Parker Hardy in 3:35 then lost by by fall to BCLUW’s Coby Willett. In the consolation semifinals, Broc won by fall over Waukee’s Lucas Gardner in 57 seconds and in the third-place match he knocked off Forest City’s William Kirschbaum by a 10-4 decision.

Hartsook opened with a fall over Waukee’s Sam Markey in 3:32 and then lost a tough 7-5 decision to Carlisle’s Bryce Murray. Hartsook rebounded with a fall over Baxter’s Derek Flaucher in 39 seconds to reach the third-place match, where he defeated Forest City’s Kristian Gunderson by a 7-2 decision.

Austin Halverson (120), Parker Frey (132), Will McCormick (138) and Logan Engebretson (145) all placed fourth for North Polk.

Frey pulled off a 6-4 win by sudden victory over Carlisle’s Troy Schnathorst and pinned Waukee’s Bill Mukhtar in 1:18 as he posted a 2-2 record. Engebretson received one bye and and earned an 11-8 decision over BCLUW’s Koty Kruse, and Halverson and McCormick both received two byes.

Justin Horness placed fifth at 160 for North Polk with a 2-2 record. Horness stuck Forest City’s Dylan Jenkins in 2:57 during the consolation first round, and in the semifinals, he pinned Hudson’s Reese Larson in 3:24.

Collins-Maxwell placed ninth in the team standings with 35.5 points. The Spartans had one wrestler take second, one come in fourth and another place fifth.

Caleb Fullerton went 1-1 to win the silver at 138 for Collins-Maxwell.

Fullerton received a bye, then pinned Clarke’s Colby Wilken in 1:41 during the semifinals. In the finals, Fullerton lost by fall to Boone’s James Runestad.

Pierick came in fourth. He opened with a bye, lost by fall to Forest City’s Brock Moore, then pinned Keller before falling to Larson in the third-place match.

Cody Galbraith came in fifth at 195 for Collins-Maxwell. Galbraith lost by fall to Carlisle’s Nate Ramirez, won by technical fall — 15-0 — over Baxter’s Brad Matthews, then lost by fall to Forest City’s Gabe Staudt.
