The Dallas Center-Grimes cross country teams traveled to the Westwood Golf Course in Newton on Monday, Oct. 9 for the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet.
The Mustangs placed first at the meet to claim their first LHC title. The boys had an average time of 17:29.6 and 40 team points.
Senior Jacob Waymire led the Mustangs. Waymire finished in second place with his final time of 17:06.1.
The next five Mustangs placed eighth through 12th. Brian Miner placed eighth with a time of 17:26.8. Just two second behind Miner and in ninth placed was Bradley Ramsey, who ran a time of 17:28.5. Alex Thompson finished in tenth when he ran a time on 17:41.9, Ean Followwill placed 11th with a time of 17:44.6 and Trenton Meggers came in 12th with a time of 17:53.4.
Steve Borneman was the last of the Mustangs to cross the finish line. Borneman finished in 21st out of 55 runners with his time of 18:11.5.
Waymire, Miner, Ramsey, Thompson, Followwill and Meggers are all All-Conference runners.
The Fillies also finished well at the meet. They placed second with their average team time of 21:11.5 and had 59 team points.
Miranda Muhlstein finished the meet with a time of 20:46.3 to lead the team in sixth place.
Lexi Smith was the second leader for the Fillies. Smith placed eighth with her final time of 20:55.2.
Natalie Paulson came in 14th place. The junior ran a time of 21:18.0. In 15th was Kaitlyn Murano who finished the race with a time of 21:28.5. Just one second behind Murano was Emma Angus in 16th with her time of 21:29.5.
Freshman Nicole Merical placed 19th at the meet when she ran a time of 21:50.3.
The final Filly to cross the finish line was Sami Sterbenz. Out of the 51 runners, Sterbenz place 22nd with her time of 22:05.5.
The Mustangs and Fillies will be running their State Qualifying meet on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Central College in Pella at 4 p.m.
