ALLEMAN - The North Polk volleyball team earned its first Heart of Iowa Conference victory this season Sept. 26 with a sweep over Saydel at Alleman.
North Polk trounced Saydel by scores of 25-7, 25-8 and 25-3 to improve to 16-11 overall and 1-2 in the HOIC.
The Comets turned in a .283 kill-efficiency rate with 26 kills and nine errors in 60 attacks. They were inconsistent serving the ball — going 51 of 70, but also finishing with an impressive 18 aces.
Grace Nelson had nine aces and she also handed out nine assists and picked up one dig for North Polk in the win. Danielle Bonewitz came up with 10 assists, six kills and two digs; Hailey Steffen dished out six assists and picked up one ace; Hailey Becker totaled seven kills, two digs and one block and Carolyn Steffen delivered six kills, two aces and one dig.
Nora Aschoff added five digs, two aces and one assist; Katie Scott three digs and two aces; Jaedon Murphy three kills and one block and Emily Larson two kills. Bella Rademacher put up two aces, one kill and one block; Leah Cam one kill and Rebecca Ley three digs.
