CONRAD - The North Polk volleyball team earned three victories at the Comet Invitational in Conrad Saturday.
North Polk went 3-2 on the day to move its season record to 9-4.
The Comets defeated Hudson in three sets and swept PCM and BCLUW. Their two losses came against South Tama and Benton Community.
North Polk won its opening set versus Hudson by a 21-13 score, then suffered a 21-18 setback. The Comets came back from the the loss with a 15-10 win in the rally game to take the match.
Carolyn Steffen put up eight kills, seven digs and one block against Hudson. Hailey Becker finished with five kills and two blocks, Rebecca Ley delivered four kills and Jaedon Murphy came up with three kills and two blocks.
Danielle Bonewitz produced 14 assists, three digs, one kill and one ace and Grace Nelson five assists, one kill and one dig. Nora Aschoff tacked on 10 digs and one ace and Katie Scott had four digs.
The Comets dismantled PCM by scores of 21-10 and 21-1. Bonewitz picked up seven assists, six aces and one dig and Nelson added six assists, three aces and three digs in the win.
Ley had six kills and Steffen four against PCM. Leah Cam and Liz Turk each put up two kills and one block and Aschoff came up with four digs.
North Polk downed BCLUW by 21-16 and 21-17 margins. Steffen finished with six kills, four digs and one ace, Becker had three kills, Murphy two kills and one block and Cam two kills and three aces.
Bonewitz finished with nine assists and three digs and Nelson two assists and three digs. Aschoff and Scott chipped in five digs apiece.
The Comets couldn’t make a 21-10 win in the opening set versus South Tama stand in a three-set setback. South Tama pulled off a 21-19 win in the second set, then took the rally game by a 15-10 score.
Steffen delivered six kills, two digs and two aces; Cam put up two kills, two digs, one block and one ace and Becker added two kills and one dig versus South Tama. Ley had one kill and two digs and Bella Rademacher one kill and one block.
Aschoff ended up with nine digs and one assist and Jalen Heintz totaled four digs. Nelson came through with eight assists, two digs and two aces and Bonewitz handed out three assists.
Benton swept North Polk in two close sets. The Comets fell by scores of 21-19 and 22-20.
Steffen put up six kills and four digs and Becker, Cam and Murphy each had one kill versus Benton. Murphy also came up with two blocks and Ley added one.
Scott finished with eight digs, Aschoff six digs and two assists and Bonewitz two aces, two assists and one dig. Nelson chipped in three assists and one ace and Rademacher dished out one assist.
