OGDEN - The Collins-Maxwell volleyball team gave a tremendous effort in its first-ever match before falling to Ogden in five sets Monday at Ogden.

The Spartans came back from a 25-19 loss in the opening set to take the next two. They won by the same 25-19 score in the second set and took the third by a 25-17 margin.

Collins-Maxwell gave a solid effort in the fourth set, but came up short, 25-22, to force a rally game. In the rally game the Spartans fell behind, 11-3, but fought back to tie the score before dropping a tough 15-13 decision.

Brianda Bane had 12 kills in 21 attacks and she also put up one block and ace apiece for Collins-Maxwell. Gracie Cheville put up eight kills and Josie Wierson added two.

Hannah Caple led Collins-Maxwell in the back row with 23 digs. Katie Camp led the Spartans in serving as she had four aces on the night.
