Six Ballard baseball players were selected all-Raccoon River Conference by the conference coaches in 2017.


Jack Luster, Austin Edwards, Gannon Manfull, Kade Reinertson, Colin Anderson and Isaac Schafbuch were given all-conference honors from Ballard after the Bombers finished 7-7 in the conference.


Luster was named to the all-RRC first team. He posted a .528 batting average, .587 on-base percentage, .639 slugging average, four doubles, three seals, six runs and 12 RBI in conference play.


Luster also made 26 putouts and five assists defensively, playing mainly at third base and on the mound. He had a 3-1 pitching record with a 1.81 earned-run average, 20 strikeouts and eight walks in 27 innings.


The other all-RRC first-team selections were: Carlisle’s Nic McCay, Nate Mortimer and Ben Rowray; Boone’s Dresden Wilson and Jackson Smith; Bondurant-Farrar’s Hogan McIntosh, Casey Zarr and Tanner Bedier; Adel-Desoto-Minburn’s Jack O’Brien and Dalton Hughes and Perry’s Janier Puente and Kyle Nevitt.


Edwards, Manfull and Reinertson were second-team choices from Ballard.


Edwards delivered a .294 batting average, .435 OBP and .500 SA with five doubles, one triple and nine RBI in conference games. He went 2-1 with a 3.82 ERA, 25 strikeouts and nine walks in 18 ⅓ innings on the mound and tallied 48 putouts, nine assists and two errors in the field.


Manfull registered a .381 batting average, .400 OBP, .500 SA, five steals, three doubles, one triple, 12 runs and nine RBI in conference games. He had 20 putouts and 12 assists defensively.


Reinertson finished with 10 assists and he threw out four bases runners defensively at catcher. At the plate he hit .343 with a .455 OBP, .400 SA, two doubles and four RBI.


Also making the all-RRC second team were: Carlisle’s Owen Durham, Dylan Berg and Max Goodhue; Boone’s Spencer Turner; Bondurant-Farrar’s Josh Meier and Jordan Collins; Winterset’s Casey Young and Connor VanPelt and Perry’s Kaleb Olejniczak and Adan Medina.


Anderson and Schafbuch were both named all-HOIC honorable mention.


Anderson went 1-3 with a 2.33 ERA, 26 strikeouts and 10 walks in 30 innings during conference games. Schafbuch hit .235 with two doubles, five runs and three RBI and he made 20 putouts and 14 assists defensively.


Carlisle head baseball coach Blake Heitmeier was named the RRC Coach of the Year after leading the Wildcats to the conference title with a 12-2 record.
