COLFAX - The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter baseball team wasn’t able to finish the job against Colfax-Mingo in a 4-3 non-conference loss to the Tigerhawks Friday in Colfax.
CMB outplayed Colfax-Mingo over the first 4 ½ innings. The Raiders led 3-1 after scoring twice in the first inning and once in the third.
But in the bottom of the fifth inning, Colfax-Mingo pushed three runs across to move in front. CMB had no answers over the final three innings, dropping to 3-16 on the season.
Carter Nelsen threw a solid game in defeat for CMB. Nelsen allowed four earned runs on five hits with five walks in six innings.
Tucker Maxwell, Brady Ross and Creighton Caple all singled and scored and Caple also drove in a run for CMB offensively. Bryce Bacon doubled, walked and stole a base and Brady Kemp was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Trystin Ross gave up two hits and two walks in two scoreless innings of relief to get the win for Colfax-Mingo. Trinity Schroeder doubled, scored and drove in two runs for the Tigerhawks on offense.

COLLINS - Collins-Maxwell-Baxter didn’t get it going offensively until it was too late in an 8-2 loss to Gilbert June 21 at Collins.
CMB scored both of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. By that time, Gilbert had jumped out to an 8-0 lead on the strength of two three-run innings.
CMB finished the game with just four hits, falling to 2-11 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Tucker Maxwell was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal and RBI and Brady Ross walked twice and drove in one run to lead the Raiders on offense.
Travis Lindemoen singled and stole a base and Brady Kemp and Carter Nelsen each had one single for CMB. Derrick Klemme and Cole Damman each walked and scored for the Raiders.
Lindemoen gave up four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings as the losing pitcher. Derrick Klemme allowed one run on two hits with two walks and one strikeout in two innings and Caple surrendered three runs — two earned — on one hit and three walks with one strikeout in one inning.
Ryan Hart tallied three strikeouts and two walks in six innings as the winning Gilbert pitcher. Nathan Chasey was 2-for-5 with a double, run and two RBI to pace the Tigers on offense.

PRAIRIE CITY - Nothing went Collins-Maxwell-Baxter’s way in a 15-0 loss at Prairie City-Monroe in four innings June 19.
PCM built an 8-0 lead, then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game early. The Mustangs finished with 12 hits to just three for CMB.
Travis Lindemoen and Cole Damman each singled and scored and Brady Kemp added one single for CMB on offense. Kemp was the losing pitcher after giving up eight earned runs on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts in three innings.
Noah Henkenius got the win for PCM. Henkenius struck out eight and didn’t allow a walk going all four innings.
Olin Meinders was 2-for-2 with three runs and RBI apiece and Ryan Hill, Noah Clark, Preston Van Wyk and Reed Worth each knocked in two runs for the Mustangs.
