CHARITON - The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter boys’ soccer team followed up a big home win over Ankeny Christian Academy with a 2-1 victory over Chariton Monday in Chariton.


The Raiders benefited from a Chariton own goal to go ahead to stay. Carter Fricke netted an unassisted goal for CMB’s first score.


CMB totaled 16 shots on goal, with six coming from Josh Bruntz and four from Fricke. Brendyn Padget made 13 saves at keeper in the win as CMB improved to 7-10.


Daniel Blidchenko scored Chariton’s only goal.


MAXWELL - Collins-Maxwell-Baxter came up with a dramatic double-overtime win over Ankeny Christian Academy by a 5-4 score in its final home game Friday in Maxwell.


Ryan Sabastiano netted the winning goal for CMB in the second overtime. Sabastiano converted a header into the net one minute into the second overtime.


Sabastiano had given CMB a 4-3 lead in the second half with another header off a feed from Josh Bruntz. ACA came back to tie the score to force overtime.


Sabastiano ended up with a hat-trick — tallying three goals and one assist. Carter Fricke scored the other two Raider goals and he also dished out an assist.


Bruntz and Peyton Johnston each finished with one assist for CMB. Raider keeper Brendyn Padget made 12 saves to help CMB pick up the win.


Brandon Craighead scored two goals for ACA. Gavin Mason finished with one goal and assist apiece, and Nate Stupka scored once for the Eagles.
