HUXLEY - North Polk had too much firepower for Ballard in a non-conference girls’ soccer game between the two rival schools May 11 in Huxley.


The Comets, ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, handed the Bombers a 10-0 setback.


Joy Smith, Danielle Bonewitz and Courtney Bonewitz turned in dominant offensive games to lead North Polk to victory. Smith put up three goals and two assists, Danielle Bonewitz had three goals and one assist and Courtney recorded two goals and three assists.


Cassandra Cox and Katryn Halterman each chipped in one unassisted goal for North Polk. Comet keeper Sawyer Elwell made one save, helping her team improve to 10-2 on the season.


The loss put Ballard at 5-5 on the season.
