BOONE - The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter girls’ golf team stepped up to beat Greene County for a sixth-place finish at the Heart of Iowa Conference girls’ golf meet May 3 at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.


CMB shot a 461 over 18 holes to beat Greene County by four strokes and place sixth out of eight teams. North Polk didn’t qualify for team scoring with only two golfers competing.


Brynne Pritchard was the top CMB golfer on the day. Pritchard carded a 103 with a 52 and 51 out.


Sadie Meyer shot a 115 with a 60 on the front and 55 on the back. Abbie Ericson tallied nine-hole rounds of 63 and 55 to finish with a 118 and Abbey Shepley also scored for CMB with a 125 after recording rounds of 62 and 63.


Payton Cory also competed for CMB. She finished with a 154.


Nora Aschoff shot a 114 and Elise Parker carded a 124 as the two North Polk competitors at the meet. Aschoff shot a 61 in and 53 out and Parker delivered rounds of 64 and 60.


Nevada won the HOIC team title for the third time in four years with a 371 and Gilbert placed second with a 383. Gilbert’s Britta Snyder was medalist with a 77 and Prairie City-Monroe’s Bre Maher was medalist runner-up with an 84.
