POLK CITY - North Polk placed eighth and Collins-Maxwell-Baxter ninth at the Heart of Iowa Conference boys’ golf meet May 2 at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City.


The Comet boys shot a 405 over 18 holes to come in 17 strokes behind Saydel’s seventh-place score. CMB finished with a score of 530.


Ty Frangenberg paced North Polk with an 86 to tie for 17th overall. Frangenberg had nine-hole rounds of 42 and 44.


Nathan Parker and Drake Johnson each finished with a 104 for the Comets. Parker shot a 58 in and 46 out and Johnson a 51 and 53 respectively.


Noah Fiori turned in the final counted score for North Polk with a 111. He had rounds of 52 and 59.


Sean Elwell shot a 117 and Keaton Kirby a 118 as the other varsity golfers for North Polk.


Caleb Van Zante shot the top score for CMB with a 98. Van Zante put up nine-hole scores of 43 and 55.


Simon McKinney carded a 132, Austin Good a 145 and Dillan Coree a 155 as the other counted scores for CMB.


Gilbert won the team championship with a 322 and Nevada was second with a 325. Nevada’s Dylan Sporrer was medalist with a 76 and Gilbert’s Joe Gibbons was runner-up with a 77.
