WAVERLY - The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter boys’ soccer team went 2-1 at the Waverly-Shell Rock Invitational Saturday in Waverly.
CMB knocked off CAL/Hampton-Dumont/Belmond-Klemme by 6-1 score. Carter Fricke put up three goals and one assist, Josh Bruntz two goals and one assist, Ryan Sabastiano one goal and Tucker Maxwell and Eian Maxwell one assist apiece for the Raiders in the win.
Brendyn Padget made three saves at keeper versus CAL/H-D/B-K.
The Raiders also downed Albia in a 5-3 affair. Sabastiano netted two goals, Fricke recorded one goal and assist apiece and Bruntz and Carter Merryman each chipped in one goal in the victory.
Devin Carson and Drake Ross each handed out one assist against Albia. Padget came up with six saves at keeper.
CMB’s loss was a 3-0 setback at the hands of Western Dubuque. Padget made 14 saves in a losing effort.
The Raiders concluded the tournament with a 5-10 overall record.
MAXWELL - Collins-Maxwell-Baxter was unable to slow down Des Moines Christian in an 8-1 loss to the Lions Friday at Maxwell.
The Raiders gave up 30 shots on goal and only got off nine, falling to 3-9 on the season.
Ryan Sabastiano accounted for the lone CMB goal. Carter Fricke finished with five shots on goal, Sabastiano two and Josh Bruntz and Devin Carson one apiece.
Keeper Brendyn Padget made 22 saves for CMB.
Ben Webster led Des Moines Christian with four goals and one assist. Matt Brightman added two goals and one assist, Shawn McGuire one goal and two assists and Braden Dexter one goal for the Lions.
