AMES - The Ballard boys’ golf team stepped up to place second out of four teams at the Coldwater Invitational April 25 at the Coldwater Golf Course in Ames.

The Bombers shot a 335 over 18 holes to edge Nevada by one stroke for runner-up honors. Gilbert won with a 319 and South Hamilton shot a 341 to place fourth.

Gannon Manfull and Noah Hartman were the top golfers for Ballard on the afternoon.

Manfull shot a 36 in and 40 out to end up medalist runner-up with a 76. Gilbert’s Tommy Doyle was the medalist with an impressive score of 72.

Hartman placed third individually with an 80. He turned in two nine-hole rounds of 40.

Robert Klunder shot rounds of 45 and 43 to finish with an 88 and Max Stoltz carded a 91 with rounds of 44 and 47 as the other scored golfers for Ballard. Alex Bangs was close behind the scoring group with a 96, Hersch Maxey and Cody Ihle each carded a 102 and Nate Briggs finished with a 106 for the Bombers.
