HUXLEY - The Ballard girls’ golf team placed third in a triangular meet with Gilbert and Nevada Monday at the Ballard Golf and Country Club in Huxley.


The Bombers shot a 213 over nine holes. Gilbert won with a 184 and Nevada scored a 191.


Abby Vincent was the top golfer for Ballard. Vincent shot a 48 to tie Gilbert’s Taylor Forth for the fourth-best individual score of the meet behind Gilbert’s Britta Snyder (35), and Nevada’s Claire Ausman (42) and Chloe Davis (44).


Madison Smith carded a 53 as the second scorer for Ballard. Afton Stark and Lauren Smith turned in respective rounds of 55 and 57 to complete the scoring for Ballard.


Madison Knutson and Megan Carson also competed for the Bombers. Knutson shot a 58 and Carson a 62.


Final team scores (nine holes): 1. Gilbert 184, 2. Nevada 191, 3. Ballard 213.

GRAND JUNCTION - Ballard saw three golfers shoot a personal best over nine holes to win a triangular meet at The Hill Golf Course in Grand Junction April 11.


Ballard shot a 198 to beat Woodward-Granger by 19 strokes for the win. Greene County came in third with a 224.


Madison Smith, Madison Knutson and Afton Stark all had their best rounds of the season for Ballard. Smith paced the Bombers with a 46, Knutson carded a 47 and Stark finished with a 53.


Abby Vincent delivered a 52 to turn in the other counted Bomber score. Lauren Smith added a 54 and Megan Carson chipped in a 69.


Final team scores (nine holes): 1. Ballard 198, 2. Woodward-Granger 217, 3. Greene County 224.
