To the editor:

In less than two weeks, registered Republican voters have the opportunity to select their candidate for Secretary of Agriculture. Being involved in Farm Bureau, Iowa Pork Producers, Iowa Soybean Association and to a lesser extent, Iowa Corn and Practical Farmers of Iowa, I have worked with all the candidates on one level or another. They are all good men and each one has good attributes. One person, however, stands out at the top. That gentleman is Mike Naig. Mike does not farm for a living, but was greatly involved in the crop/livestock farm operated by his father and uncle near Cylinder, Iowa. Mike has served the people of Iowa as Undersecretary of Agriculture prior to Bill Northey’s move to USDA. Mike has learned from Bill, and in fact is endorsed by him. Mike’s ability to communicate the needs of ALL Iowans in regards to agriculture is one of his strong points. He can speak with those that know little, or a lot, about agriculture and make them all feel that their concerns are heard. His experience in the Department of Agriculture shows that he can continue to lead, not “start to lead” as the other candidates would be having to do.

In summary, if you like how Bill Northey led us, support the man he endorsed, MIKE NAIG!
