Robert Crabb, age 68, died on Monday, September 30, 2013 at his home in New Providence, IA. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 4, at 1:30 pm at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church. Bob was buried at New Providence Cemetery.

Robert Jon Crabb of New Providence, Iowa, was born in Maxwell, Iowa, February 22, 1945, to John and Yvonne (Signs) Crabb. He graduated from Collins High School in 1963. Upon graduation he joined the Navy and served on a missile destroyer off the coast of South Vietnam from 1964 to 1967. After leaving the Navy, Bob started work as a lineman for Northwestern Bell Telephone which evolved into US West, then Qwest. He worked many different locations around Iowa but was based in Boone, then Ames. He retired as a Net Tech after 40 years. He then made his home in Boone. On September 26, 1992, Bob was joined in marriage with Brenda Sayer Steinfeldt. They lived in Boone until moving to New Providence in 2008. Bob was a loving stepfather to Brenda’s daughter, Neena, and adored granddaughter, Daria. Bob was an avid antiquer and loved Iowa pottery and Native Indian artifacts. He and Brenda opened a combination antique/coffee shop in New Providence in the fall of 2011. Bob is a member of the Honey Creek-New Providence Friends Meeting in New Providence.
Bob died suddenly September 30, 2013, at his home of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Yvonne Crabb. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, stepdaughter Neena (Roger) Bentley, step-granddaughter Daria, four brothers: Jim (Sandra) of Ankeny, Jerry (Linda) of Port Orchard, WA, John, and Bill, both of Collins, eleven nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
