Dale Merle Fricke, 70, of Collins, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A memorial visitation/dinner will be on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Baxter Community Center in Baxter, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.
Dale was born on May 27, 1948 to Fred and Nadine (Warner) Fricke in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm in Rural Baxter and graduated from Mingo High School in 1966. Following school, he went to Iowa State and helped his dad on the farm until he joined the Navy to serve in the Vietnam Conflict. After Vietnam, Dale returned to Iowa, where he farmed with his dad until he began working at Maytag. On December 12, 1970, he married Kathy McQuiston in State Center, Iowa. The couple resided in Collins, where they raised their family together. After 30 years working at Maytag, Dale retired in 2003. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, going to grandkids’ various sporting events, hunting, fishing, “farming,” gardening, and camping.
Those left to cherish Dale’s loving memory are his sons, Todd (Lori) Fricke, Marcus (Cheryl) Fricke, and Eric Fricke; 5 grandchildren, Brett (Sarah) Fricke, Ashley Fricke, Jacob Fricke, Carter Fricke, and Avery Fricke; sisters Shirley (Dave) Norton, and Kathy (Ken) Potter; brother Fred (Hazel) Fricke; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Mark) Swanson, Lori McQuiston and Phyllis (Jim) Backoff; brother-in-law Randy McQuiston; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
