Dwight “Greg” Carpenter Jr., 69, of Maxwell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
Greg was born September 8, 1948, in Ames the son of Dwight Gregory Sr. and Audrey Carol (Roadenizer) Carpenter. He graduated from Camanche High School in 1967 and later from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree. On February 19, 1992, he was united in marriage to Jacqui Clark in Reno, Nevada. He worked for Lindbergh Heat Treating as a metallurgist and had served as past president of the Story County Conservation Board, Kirkwood Khoury League and the Greater St. Louis JFL. He had a special love for animals, especially horses.
Greg is survived by his children: Kelly (David) Stone of St. Louis, MO, Chris (Tina) Carpenter of St. Louis, MO, Dana Gholson of St. Louis, MO, Andrea (Kitt) Norwich of Belleville, IL and Elizabeth (Jamie) Lemke of Boone; his mother, Audrey Carpenter of Marshalltown; his siblings: Guy (Karol) Carpenter of Charles City, Donna (Tom) Lewison of Reno, NV, Debbie Carpenter of Marshalltown and Gene Carpenter of Ames; twelve grandchildren; and his cousin and best friend, Craig (Katie) Warfield of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his father and wife, Jacqui.
Memorial was Wednesday, June 6 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. A reception followed at the Maxwell Legion in Maxwell. Burial of cremated remains was at the Maxwell Cemetery.
