Elinor Anderson Christensen, 96, of Huxley died April 25, 2018, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Memorial services were held Saturday April 28 at Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Huxley. Burial followed in the Palestine Church Cemetery.


Elinor was born on January 30, 1922, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Jacob and Edith (Severeid) Lee. She married Maurice Anderson on July 30, 1940. He died May 14, 1991. Elinor worked at Iowa Department of Transportation as a micro film operator for many years. She lived most of her life in the Huxley and Cambridge area and was a member of Palestine Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.


Elinor is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Charles) Buche of Madrid; two sons, Duane (Claudia) Anderson of Madrid and Don (Cindy) of Richmond, KY; a son-in-law, Melvin Vetter of Huxley; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a sister, Oriette Younes of Holtville, CA.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Maurice Anderson and Leroy Christensen; her daughter, Janice Vetter; a great grandson, Ryan Fraaken and four sisters, Lavona Lee, Verlaine Sherick, Orion Lee and Oriette Younces.
