Mrs. Ruth Arline Gillette, 96, of Burlington, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Great River Klein Center.

Born May 7, 1921, in Muscatine, she was the daughter of Elmer and Edith Young. On March 30, 1939, she married Lawrence John Gillette Sr. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1991.

Mrs. Gillette was a graduate of Grandview High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery, sewing, crocheting and yard work.

Survivors include three daughters, Kay (Dan) Pfeifer of Burlington, Phyllis (Dan) Beik of Donnellson, and Barbara (Curtis) Blom of Burlington; two sons, Lawrence John Gillette Jr. of Letts and David Lee (Sharon) Gillette of Van Cleve, Mississippi; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Annie Crooks of Columbus Junction and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Gillette, her parents and her husband.

The graveside memorial funeral service and inurnment for Mrs. Gillette will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 18th, in Grandview Cemetery with the Rev. David Plooster officiating.

A memorial has been established for the Great River Medical Center — Klein Center, Blackhawk Blvd.
