Story County Conservation (SCC) Partners invite you to attend their annual Spring Festival on Sunday, May 4, from 2-5 p.m. at McFarland Park (56461 180th St.) northeast of Ames.
Enjoy Appalachian based, string-band music from the Flying Pig Fiddle and Banjo band! As you listen to the band and relax in the park, learn about the spring activity of amphibians and birds through displays, crafts and activities.
There will also be canoeing with the Skunk River Paddlers, fishing pole check-out, solar viewing with the Ames Area Amateur Astronomers, the Partners Photo Contest display, and free refreshments. Best of all, this event is free and fun for everyone!
This festival is an excellent opportunity to visit McFarland Park and learn more about the support SCC Partners offers. SCC Partners was formed in 1996 to fund the Prairie Horizons newsletter. Since then, Partners has raised nearly $200,000 to support public programs, aid in conservation and restoration projects and to sponsor the annual spring and fall festivals. For more information about the Partners program, contact Special Projects Ranger Carol Williams at 515-232-2516.
