2/3: Officer took a report from a Cambridge man who complained that the windshield of his car was damaged while parked on Main in Huxley. After investigation, a suspect was developed. A 20-year-old Huxley man who is related to the victim agreed to pay for the damage he had done in order to avoid the victim pressing charges.
2/5: Officer responded to a domestic altercation at the 500 block of E. First Street. A 22-year-old Huxley woman was arrested for Simple Domestic Assault and transported to the Story County Jail in Nevada. Officer took a report of a dog bite at the 500 block of E. Fifth Street. This was the second bite incident with the dog in the past year, so the dog had to be removed from the city. Officer took a fraud report at the 200 block of Oak Blvd. A credit card belonging to a Huxley man was compromised. Approximately $3200 in purchases were made at Target that were not made by the man.
2/6: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 69 near E. First Street. The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old Des Moines man, was suspended from driving. He was cited and released with a court date.
2/9: Officer was called to a business at the Ballard Plaza for a complaint of harassment. A customer of the business had shown an employee an offensive picture from his cell phone. The customer was identified and arrested for Harassment 3rd.
2/12: Officer responded to a single vehicle accident at the 103 Mile Marker of Interstate 35. A 21-year-old Waukee man had lost control of his vehicle and slid into the center median wire barrier, causing approximately $1500 in damage. No injuries. Officer responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 35 near the 104 Mile Marker southbound. Minimal damage to a Des Moines man’s vehicle was done as he slid off the road and into the ditch. No injuries. Officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 69 near E. Third Street for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old Huxley man, was suspended from driving. He was cited and released with a court date.
2/18: Officer responded to a dog bite at the 800 block of Hickory. A dog belonging to a Huxley family on Pine Valley Drive had escaped the back yard and bit another dog. The owners of the dog plan on making arrangements for getting rid of the dog and removing it from the city.
2/21: Officer responded to a shoplifting report at a business located in the Ballard Plaza. A positive ID was made on the suspect, who had stolen various items valued at under $100. The female fled the scene prior to officer arrival. The officer filed a warrant for the arrest of the 30-year-old Mitchellville woman for theft 5th.
2/26: Officer served an arrest warrant for Polk County at the 200 block of Oak Blvd. A 23-year-old Huxley man was transported to the County Line and given to Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
Huxley officers had six arrests for the month; two were for Driving While License Suspended, one for Harassment, one for Domestic Assault, one for Theft and one warrant. Officers issued six citations for traffic offenses and gave 56 warnings. Officers had 253.5 hours of investigations, answering calls, or giving assistance, and had 328.25 hours of patrol. Officers received 189 calls for service or information and had a total of 401 contacts for the month.
