On Oct. 23, three Huxley officers received Letters of Commendation for life-saving acts.


• On Oct. 7, at 0540-hrs, Sergeant Joe Marchesano and Officer Jacque Gloede responded to a house fire at 307 Sycamore Ave in Huxley. On scene, Sergeant Marchesano and Officer Gloede saved a female victim from perishing. With their quick action, they were able grab and pull the female victim through a bedroom window, disregarding their own safety. They continued to stay on scene, attempting to save two other victims and assisting firefighter personnel and the state fire marshal.


• On Nov. 20, 2017, at 2301-hrs, Sergeant Nate Albaugh responded to a call for a 55-year old male that was unresponsive and not breathing at 517 Larson Drive. Sergeant Albaugh quickly responded to the residence and began CPR and delivered shocks with the AED. Sergeant Albaugh, with other Huxley First Responders, was able to revive the male. When the male was stabilized, he was transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by ambulance. With the quick action of Sergeant Albaugh, the male was able to fully recover from the incident.
