GLADSTONE, Ill. — Henderson County, Illinois, Emergency Management Agency and University of Illinois Extension have announced the first of two public meetings to update the county’s Multijurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan.

The meeting is planned for 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Henderson County Health Department, 208 W. Elm St., Gladstone, Illinois.

Created in 2010, the plan must be updated with the public’s input in order to continue eligibility for Mitigation Grant dollars from FEMA.

Extension staff will facilitate focus groups on the specific needs of a variety of sectors including agriculture, education, business and human services.

The Illinois State Water Survey will also update the Countywide HAZUS data to determine potential risks in the county from flooding, earthquake and other hazards.
