Three couples, traveling companions, stopped by Harrington Park at the east edge of Nevada as they were making their way to Ames on Tuesday for the Flathead Reunion taking place Wednesday through Saturday. From left are Dick and Lois Preston of Albion, N.Y., with their 1954 Pontiac Star Chief; Rich and Nancy Byerley of Cuba, N.Y., with their 1940 Pontiac; and Arnold and Lois Landvoigt of Savage, Md., with their 1937 Pontiac. The three talked a little about their trek and the fun they were anticipating at this week’s reunion. They encourage area residents to visit with them in Ames this coming Saturday morning, as the Reunion participants will hold a “low-key” car show near the Ames Downtown Farmers Market. “We want the general public to know that we’re not rich people, we just like to have a lot of fun,” Arnold said. The Times will write a little more about these three couples and share a few additional photos in next week’s newspaper. Photo by Marlys Barker
